Key Features of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van stands out in its segment by offering more cargo space than its competitors. With multiple configurations available, the Sprinter can be tailored to meet various large van needs. One of its notable features is the Crosswind Assist, which enhances stability in gusty weather conditions. The all-electric eSprinter van is estimated to have a range of up to 204 miles, making it a viable option for urban operations.

    Luxury Pricing and Competitiveness

As a luxury brand, Mercedes-Benz pricing is typically compared to other high-end brands. However, in the van segment, the Sprinter competes with mainstream brands like Ford, Ram, GMC, and Chevrolet. The starting price for the 2025 Sprinter is over $52,000, including delivery fees, which is significantly higher than its competitors. For instance, GM vans start at about $10,000 less.

    Electric Version: eSprinter

The eSprinter is not unique in offering an all-electric version, as other brands like Ford and Ram also provide electric models. However, the eSprinter boasts a class-leading estimated range of 249 miles with its larger battery, while the standard battery offers around 204 miles. Both battery options can reach an 80% charge in under an hour using a DC fast charger.

    Multiple Configurations for Versatility

Mercedes-Benz offers the Sprinter in various models: Cargo Van, Crew Van, and Passenger Van. Each model comes with different wheelbase lengths, roof heights, and overall lengths, making it versatile for transporting people and cargo. The Sprinter Cab Chassis model is designed for commercial use and serves as the backbone for vehicles like ambulances and RVs.

    Superior Cargo Capacity

The Sprinter excels in cargo capacity, with the Cargo Van offering between 319 to 533 cubic feet of space. The Passenger Van’s cargo area ranges from 70 to 111 cubic feet, while the 5-person Crew Cab provides 240 to 371 cubic feet. These numbers surpass those of its competitors, such as the Ford Transit, which offers 247 to 487 cubic feet.

    Turbodiesel Engines for Extra Power

The Sprinter is the only van in its class to feature a turbodiesel engine, available in two versions: a 170-horsepower single-turbo engine and a 211-hp twin-turbo high-output version. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The turbodiesel powertrain contributes to the Sprinter’s maintenance advantage.

    Extended Service Interval

The Sprinter boasts a service interval of 20,000 miles or one year, which is twice that of its competitors like the Ford Transit. This extended interval is attributed to its turbodiesel engine.

    All-Wheel Drive Capability

The Mercedes-Benz 4Matic all-wheel drive system is available across all Sprinter models and is particularly useful in adverse weather conditions. It works by automatically shifting engine torque to wheels with grip, thus enhancing stability.

    Advanced Infotainment System

The optional Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system features AI technology and offers four methods of operation: voice control, touchscreen, steering-wheel controls, and touchpad. This system enhances the driving experience with its learning capability.

    Crosswind Assist for Stability

Crosswind Assist is a feature designed to maintain the van’s stability in strong crosswinds. It operates by automatically applying braking to the wheels on the windward side, thus keeping the vehicle on course.

Connected Services with Mercedes me connect

The Mercedes me connect app provides various owner benefits, including remote vehicle start, door lock/unlock, and vehicle location services. For fleet managers, additional features like the Efficient Fleet Management Bundle are available, offering tools such as digital driver’s logs and trip management.
