10-Year-Old Girl Injured in Lancaster County Accident
DENVER, Pa. — A 10-year-old girl was injured on Thursday morning after being struck by a pickup truck in Denver Borough, Lancaster County, according to authorities.
East Cocalico Township Police Chief Steven Savage said the incident occurred around 7:33 a.m. on South Fourth Street near Middle School Drive.
Chief Savage indicated that the girl, a fifth-grade student at Denver Elementary School, was walking to school alone when the accident happened. The circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the girl was in a crosswalk, are still under investigation.
According to Chief Savage, the girl was conscious at the scene and was transported to the hospital. Her current condition is unknown.
The pickup truck was driven by a man who had a child in the passenger seat, Chief Savage reported. The driver stopped immediately after the accident and contacted 911.
Police say the driver is cooperating with the investigation. The Lancaster County Crash team is reconstructing the incident to determine the cause. The area remained closed while crews investigated the scene.
