A tragic accident occurred during the evening rush hour on Monday when a 12-year-old boy was fatally struck by a pickup truck at a busy Long Island intersection. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was crossing Middle Neck Road outside of a designated crosswalk near its intersection with Northern Boulevard in Flower Hill, Nassau County, around 6:38 p.m. He was hit by a northbound 2023 Ford pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old driver. The boy was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. This incident comes shortly after another fatal accident in nearby New Hyde Park involving a motorcyclist and a pickup truck on the Long Island Expressway service road.
