A 13-year-old girl was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after a high-speed chase in a stolen pickup truck that reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. The chase began when Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a speeding pickup truck with only one working headlight that had run a red light at Highway 26 and Ammon Road. The vehicle led officers on a dangerous pursuit through residential areas and construction zones, driving through front lawns and ramming patrol cars.
The chase continued as the girl drove south on Ammon Road, then turned onto Highway 26, where a deputy attempted to pull her over but discontinued the stop due to safety concerns. The pursuit resumed when officers spotted the truck again, now without headlights, in a neighborhood near Rocky Mountain Middle School. When deputies tried to block her path in an apartment complex, the girl intentionally rammed into patrol cars, causing damage to property as she forced her way through.
The chase continued at high speeds, with the girl failing to yield at stop lights and intersections. Eventually, she lost control of the vehicle at a corner on North Yellowstone and Roh Lane, crashing into a canal. Deputies and officers were able to arrest the girl and a 15-year-old male passenger at the scene.
The 13-year-old girl was booked at the 3B Detention Center on two felony counts of aggravated battery, felony eluding, and misdemeanor charges for leaving the scene of an accident and joyriding. The 15-year-old boy was released to his parents, with potential charges related to the theft of the pickup truck pending further investigation.
