A tragic accident occurred on Saturday in Steuben County, New York, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man. According to state police, the incident happened at approximately 11:24 a.m. on Victory Highway in the town of Erwin. The collision involved an electric motorbike and a 2019 Dodge pickup truck hauling a trailer.
The young man, who was riding the motorbike, entered the roadway from a private address on Victory Highway and failed to yield to the oncoming pickup truck driven by 31-year-old Christopher E. Tyler of Painted Post. Tyler was traveling eastbound when the motorbike collided with his vehicle.
The impact resulted in life-threatening injuries for the 19-year-old motorbike rider, who was subsequently airlifted to Guthrie Corning Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Tyler, the pickup truck driver, did not sustain any injuries during the accident.
The state police have not released the name of the deceased individual pending notification of next of kin. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing, with Trooper Lynnea Crane providing details in an official news release.
