2025 Cadillac Optiq: A Stylish and Comfortable Compact EV Crossover

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq marks the latest step in Cadillac’s electric vehicle (EV) evolution, and it’s a significant one. Positioned to replace the XT4 in the lineup, the Optiq is designed to appeal to the growing number of buyers interested in both crossovers and EVs.

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq’s exterior design is influenced by the larger Lyriq.

Sharing its fundamental structure, including its wheelbase, with the Chevrolet Equinox EV, the Optiq is slightly more compact than the Lyriq. This difference in size translates to a more youthful vibe.

    Design and Styling

From a design standpoint, the 2025 Optiq takes cues from the Lyriq but adds unique elements inspired by the Escalade IQ. The front showcases Cadillac’s signature crystal black “grille,” integrated with LED lights, and features an illuminated Cadillac emblem. The rear design, particularly the split taillights, echoes the Escalade IQ’s influence.

The Optiq delivers a luxurious and visually striking interior.

An interesting design flourish can also be found on the rearmost side windows, where lines are etched into the glass and then continue into the brake light patterns.

Standard on all models are 20-inch wheels, and higher trims offer optional 21-inch wheels in two designs.

    Interior and Technology

Cadillac introduced a new interior design language with the Lyriq, marked by exclusive switchgear and a sweeping 33-inch LED display, and the Optiq builds on this foundation. Inside, the Optiq maintains a premium look and feel.

My test vehicle featured a “sky cool gray” interior, with light gray seats and lower dash elements complemented by darker gray fabric accents and vibrant azure blue trim. This striking color scheme, inspired by Santorini, adds a dimension to the luxury aesthetic and helps the Optiq stand out. For those who prefer traditional colors, black and gray interiors are also available, as are Phantom Blue and Autumn Canyon interior options.

The Optiq’s interior features a large, integrated display screen.

The Optiq’s software mirrors the Lyriq’s, although with some model-specific adjustments. While its functionality is adequate, it might not be as user-friendly as systems from some other companies. A noteworthy drawback is the absence of both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The native Cadillac software has its limitations, particularly for Apple device users as apps like Apple Music and Podcasts are not available natively. Furthermore, the companion app is often slow to respond, and it lacks some key features.

Attention to detail, such as the trim, adds to the luxurious feel.

Regardless of these software considerations, the Optiq’s interior is visually appealing and luxurious. Its unique colors and textures give it a distinct personality in a crowded market.

    Performance and Driving Experience

Cadillac is emphasizing a smooth, comfortable driving experience with its new EVs, and the Optiq exemplifies this. The Optiq’s ride quality is notably smooth and well-composed for its size, easily absorbing road imperfections. Compared to the Lyriq, the Optiq offers a slightly firmer ride, which is fitting for a smaller vehicle.

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq offers a comfortable driving experience.

The 2025 Optiq is equipped with a standard dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, producing 300 horsepower, and achieving 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. The throttle mapping prioritizes a smooth delivery of power over jerky acceleration.

All Optiq models feature an 85 kWh battery pack, providing an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles. During testing, the vehicle appeared to exceed these figures by about 10 miles, although this can vary based on driving style and external conditions. Charging capabilities reach a maximum of 150 kW, which allows the vehicle to gain around 80 miles of range in 10 minutes at a DC fast-charging station. For those charging at home, slower charging speeds are less of a concern.

    Value and Trims

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq presents a strong value proposition, starting at $54,390 (including a $1,495 destination fee). The standard equipment list is generous. All Optiqs feature a rearview mirror camera system, a glass roof, customizable ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, a premium AKG audio system with Dolby Atmos, and GM’s advanced Super Cruise hands-free driving system. The 2025 Cadillac Optiq is available in Luxury 1 and Sport 1 trims, offering nearly identical standard features, with the Sport trim including additional dark-colored trim and a distinctive grille and a price that is about $500 higher. Luxury 2 and Sport 2 trims build on this with additional features, such as ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and more, for an extra $2,000. To opt for one of the more distinctive interior color options, customers will need to choose a level 2 trim and select the $1,100 interior upgrade.

    Conclusion

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq is a compelling choice for anyone interested in the luxury compact crossover EV segment. It delivers a winning combination of distinct design, comfort, technology, range, and performance, making it a standout option in the luxury EV market.
