2025 Chevrolet BrightDrop: The Electric Workhorse

Chevrolet is entering the electric commercial vehicle market with the BrightDrop. This purpose-built EV is all about business and offers fleet operators a zero-emission solution for deliveries and other work-related tasks. The 2025 BrightDrop offers several improvements and a competitive feature set.

    Powertrain and Performance

The BrightDrop offers both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The single-motor, front-wheel-drive setup generates 240 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive version utilizes two electric motors, boosting output to 300 horsepower. This gives the BrightDrop a power advantage over some of its competitors.

    Range and Charging

Chevrolet estimates a driving range of up to 180 miles for the 600 model and 178 miles for the 400 model with the standard battery. An optional “Max Range” battery pack is exclusively available on all-wheel-drive models, extending the range to a maximum of 303 miles per charge, according to the manufacturer.

    Interior and Features

Inside, the BrightDrop boasts a modern cabin compared to the older Express van. An 11.3-inch infotainment screen is complemented by an 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster. Fleet operators can also leverage the OnStar Telematics service, which offers features like vehicle location tracking, fueling data analysis, and expense management.

    Pricing and Trim Levels

The 2025 Chevrolet BrightDrop is offered in two body styles: the 400 (short-wheelbase) and the 600 (long-wheelbase). Pricing starts at $78,625 for the 400 model and $80,125 for the 600 model. The Max Range battery option and all-wheel-drive are available upgrades.

    Competition

The BrightDrop faces competition in the growing EV cargo van segment from rivals like the Ford E-Transit, Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, Ram ProMaster EV, and the Rivian RCV.

    What’s New for 2025?

The BrightDrop was originally conceived as a stand-alone EV brand. Now, it has been integrated within the Chevrolet family and will be marketed through participating Chevy dealerships.

    Safety Features

The BrightDrop comes standard with automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic high-beam headlamps. Additional safety features include lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.

The 2025 Chevrolet BrightDrop appears to be a promising entrant into the electric commercial van market. Its range, features, and available configurations make it a compelling option for businesses looking to reduce emissions and embrace electric vehicle technology.
