2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger: Power and Range, Courtesy of Gasoline
The 2026 Ramcharger electric full-size pickup promises to be a game-changer in the EV market. Unlike its competitors, the Ramcharger isn’t a pure electric vehicle. Instead, it incorporates a gasoline-powered generator that extends the truck’s range, aiming to alleviate “range anxiety” for pickup truck owners.

Ram is targeting a second-half of 2025 release for the new truck and is aiming for a competitive price point. The company is hoping to price the trucks with prices in line with gasoline and diesel full-size pickups like the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
“The goal is to be ‘slightly higher than’ the average transaction price of an internal combustion pickup,” said Ram boss Tim Kuniskis. He even went as far as to float the idea of a well-equipped production Ramcharger priced near $70,000, a move that would place the truck squarely in the price range of its gas-powered rivals.
How the Ramcharger Achieves Its Impressive Range
The Ramcharger uses a 92 kWh battery pack to deliver an estimated 145 miles of electric range. That’s less than some competitors. But a gasoline-powered 3.6L V6 engine, linked to a 202 kW electric generator, kicks in to produce more electricity whenever the battery is depleted. The engine is never connected to the wheels, thus the vehicle is classified as an EV, not a plug-in hybrid. The combined fuel and battery setup offers a total highway range of up to 690 miles.

This approach addresses a major concern for pickup truck owners: range limitations, especially when towing. The extended range provided by the generator ensures that owners can tow heavy loads long distances without frequent charging stops.

Power and Capability
The Ramcharger boasts impressive performance figures:
- Power: A 250 kW electric motor on the front axle and a 248 kW motor on the rear axle combine for a total system output of 455 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque.
- Towing: The truck is estimated to have a 14,000-pound towing capacity.
- 0-60 mph: Acceleration is estimated at 4.5 seconds.

The Ramcharger will also offer several features typically found in electric vehicles. These include:
- Smooth, quiet operation.
- Instant torque.
- Strong acceleration.
- The ability to power a house or worksite.

Other notable features include a reinforced STLA-F frame for towing and crash protection, a simulated low range for off-roading, electronic locking rear differential, and disconnecting front wheels to switch to two-wheel drive for enhanced efficiency.
Ram is betting that the Ramcharger’s unique blend of electric performance and extended range will make it a compelling option for pickup truck buyers, a proposition made even stronger with its competitive pricing strategy.
