A 24-year-old woman died and a man was seriously injured in a pickup truck accident on Route 22/322 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The incident occurred on June 16 when the 27-year-old male driver lost control of the 1988 GMC S15 pickup truck around 3:11 a.m. while traveling westbound near Route 147 in Reed Township. The driver had been passing a commercial vehicle in the left lane and attempted to merge back into the right lane when he hit an embankment, causing the pickup to roll over multiple times before coming to rest on Norfolk Southern train tracks.
The victim, Makayla M. Creeley from Halifax, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and died at the scene. The driver, also from Halifax, was rushed to Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center with serious injuries. Train traffic was temporarily halted while emergency crews responded to the scene. All westbound lanes of Route 22/322 were closed between the Mountain Road and Halifax exits for over five hours before being reopened by PennDOT around 8:30 a.m.
Creeley was born and raised in Harrisburg and had attended Central Dauphin High School and Line Mountain Jr./Sr. High School, according to her social media profiles.
