A tragic accident claimed the life of a 69-year-old Barataria man on Friday afternoon in Jefferson Parish. According to Louisiana State Police, the fatal crash occurred on La. 3134 when Gordon Cordes lost control of his 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck. The vehicle veered off the road’s left side and struck a light pole and several trees in the median. Despite wearing a seatbelt, Cordes died at the scene. State Police Troop B responded to the incident at approximately 1:30 p.m. The authorities have collected toxicology samples as part of their ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
