Fatal Train Collision in Cohasset Claims 78-Year-Old Man
Authorities have identified John Canney, a 78-year-old Cohasset man, as the victim of a train collision that occurred on Saturday, May 3. The incident happened around 11:20 a.m. when Canney’s pickup truck crashed with a commuter train on Beachwood Street, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
First responders rushed to the scene, where they found a Greenbush Line train had struck a 2015 GMC truck. Despite emergency efforts, Canney was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The MBTA transit police, Massachusetts State Police, and Cohasset police are investigating the cause of the crash.
