Toronto police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Friday afternoon in which a 94-year-old woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck.
Emergency services were called to the area of Massey Street and King Street West, just east of Strachan Avenue, at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to authorities.
Police reports indicate the woman was crossing King Street from north to south when she was hit by a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver, a 60-year-old man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, said Const. Cindy Chung of the Toronto Police Service.
“We are asking the public or anybody in the area if they have dash cam footage or businesses to reach out to Toronto police so we can figure out the circumstances of what occurred before she was struck,” Chung stated to CTV News Toronto.
In an unrelated incident earlier in the day, Toronto police responded to another report of a pedestrian struck in North York. At around 2:30 p.m., officers were called to Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East, where a woman in her 30s was hit by a vehicle. Police reported that she sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The driver in this incident also remained at the scene.
