Thieves Target Arlington Heights Dealership, Stealing Luxury Vehicles
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) — A brazen burglary at a north suburban car dealership has left the owner reeling after thieves stole three luxury vehicles worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The incident, which occurred earlier this month, was captured on surveillance cameras, offering a glimpse into the high-stakes theft.
According to police, the suspects are believed to be linked to similar crimes in the northwest suburbs. No one is currently in custody related to this specific incident.
Surveillance footage from Autos of Chicago in Arlington Heights shows masked individuals, one carrying a crowbar, forcing their way into the business. The dealership’s manager stated the break-in happened overnight on March 1st.
Inside the showroom, the footage revealed the burglars prying open a safe and making off with several key fobs. They then made their escape with three vehicles from the parking lot.
The stolen vehicles include a BMW, an Audi, and a Jeep, with a combined value of approximately $300,000, according to the manager. While Chicago police have since recovered one of the cars, the other two remain missing.
“When you put all your life into something, and when you work so hard for something, and somebody just comes and take your hard work and everything in a few minutes, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s upsetting,” said Autos of Chicago General Manager Adam Abduli.
Arlington Heights police are actively investigating the case and suspect the involvement of the same individuals in other dealership thefts across the northwest suburbs. Abduli expressed the dealership’s desire for increased nighttime patrols and the installation of a security fence, pending village approval.
