School Bus Hits Pickup Truck in Tooele, Utah
TOOELE, Utah – A pickup truck driver was transported to a local hospital on Tuesday after a school bus rear-ended their vehicle in Tooele, Utah. The driver of the school bus was cited for following too closely, according to the Tooele City Police Department.
The injured pickup truck driver, a 46-year-old man from West Valley City, was in stable condition. The crash occurred on Main Street, and the bus was carrying 54 elementary-aged children and 16 adults at the time. Two students were evaluated at the scene but were later released.
Crews were dispatched to the scene at 725 N Main Street around 1:30 p.m. The bus was heading south on Main Street after a field trip to the zoo. The truck, a white F-150, was also traveling south and had stopped for a pedestrian crossing the road.
“The school bus ran into the back of the F-150,” police said. “Pieces of metal that had been in the back of the F-150 made contact with the front windshield of the school bus.”
Authorities confirmed the bus driver was unharmed by the debris. Aside from the truck driver and two students who were checked at the scene, no other injuries were reported.
