Expanding the Mahindra Lineup: Multiple New Models in Testing
Mahindra, the well-known Indian UV (utility vehicle) manufacturer, is currently putting four new models through their paces on Indian roads. This includes three electric SUVs and a lifestyle pickup truck based on the Scorpio-N. According to sources, these vehicles are expected to go on sale before the end of 2025. Mahindra has plans to bring the production version of the XUV.e8 and the BE Rall-E concepts to market this year.
Mahindra XEV 7e: A New Electric SUV
The XUV.e8 concept-based electric SUV is rumored to be called the XEV 7e. Mahindra intends to market this vehicle as a practical, seven-seater e-SUV. While the overall profile will resemble the XUV700, the XEV 7e will showcase EV-specific design changes. The front design is expected to mirror that of the XEV 9e, while the side and rear designs will share similarities with the XUV700.
The XEV 7e’s cabin layout will likely be similar to the XEV 9e, featuring a triple-screen setup that includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and a comparable-sized co-passenger display. It will also boast features like Auto Park, seven airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), and LEVEL 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The XEV 7e will share battery packs with the BE 6 and XEV 9e, offering options of 59kWh and 79kWh, along with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. Additionally, a dual-motor AWD (all-wheel drive) setup is anticipated, with an expected range of over 500km on a single charge.
Mahindra BE Rall-E: Off-Road Focused Electric SUV
The Mahindra BE Rall-E, a concept-based electric SUV, is expected to launch during the festive season. This model is essentially the off-road-oriented, rugged version of the BE 6 electric coupe SUV. The BE Rall-E’s design gives it a distinct off-road character in contrast to the BE 6 and XEV 9e models. Both the XEV 7e and the BE Rall-E will be built on Mahindra’s INGLO skateboard platform. This electric SUV is likely to come with a 79kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup, promising a range exceeding 500km on a single charge.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: An Affordable Electric SUV
Mahindra is also developing its most compact and affordable electric SUV, which will be based on the XUV 3XO. This EV has been spotted undergoing testing on Indian roads on multiple occasions. Using an ICE (internal combustion engine)-converted platform, this model will directly compete with the Tata Punch EV. It is expected to feature a 35kWh battery pack, similar to the lower trims of the XUV400 EV. The XUV 3XO EV is anticipated to offer a driving range of 375-400km on a full charge.
Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup: A Lifestyle Pickup Truck
Mahindra will also introduce a pickup truck based on the Scorpio N. This model has been seen testing on Indian roads and was first showcased as the Global Pik-up concept in 2023. It will be sold under a different nameplate and is slated to launch in Australia and South Africa before making its debut in India. The lifestyle pickup will be equipped with a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine, with both manual and automatic transmission options.
