Car and Driver tests have revealed a compelling performance comparison: the all-electric 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack demonstrated superior acceleration against the gasoline-powered 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.
As revealed by Car and Driver, the Daytona Scat Pack rockets from zero to 60 mph in a brisk 3.3 seconds. The Hellcat Redeye, despite its 797 horsepower, achieved the same feat in 3.6 seconds.
The Daytona Scat Pack benefits from its 670-horsepower electric drivetrain. Instant torque, coupled with an advanced all-wheel-drive system, contributes to its rapid acceleration. The rear-wheel-drive Hellcat Redeye, however, struggles to utilize all its power efficiently off the line.
At higher speeds, the Redeye regains some ground. It hits 100 mph in 7.8 seconds, slightly ahead of the Daytona Scat Pack’s 8.0 seconds. Quarter-mile times were very similar, with the electric Charger completing the run in 11.7 seconds versus the Hellcat Redeye’s 11.8 seconds.
The Redeye achieves a quarter-mile top speed of 125 mph, compared to the Daytona’s 119 mph. These tests illustrate a changing landscape in performance, showing the capabilities of electric powertrains to offer performance that rivals, and in some cases surpasses, traditional muscle cars.
This head-to-head test highlights the shift towards electrification in the muscle car segment, showcasing the compelling performance that electric vehicles can offer alongside the traditional appeal of internal combustion engines.
