Aston Martin Unveils the Vanquish Volante
Aston Martin’s third-generation Vanquish, which debuted last year, has now been joined by its convertible sibling: the Vanquish Volante. The automaker is positioning the new model as a leader in the ultra-luxury, high-performance convertible market.
According to Aston Martin, the Vanquish Volante is the world’s fastest and most powerful front-engine convertible. It boasts a top speed of 214 mph and is powered by a V-12 engine producing 823 horsepower. The car is also the “most powerful open-top series production Aston Martin to date,” representing the “very pinnacle of ultra-luxury high performance.”
The new Vanquish Volante aims to compete with established luxury brands like Rolls-Royce and Bentley while also offering performance that rivals Lamborghini and Ferrari. With this model, Aston Martin intends to emphasize both its performance capabilities and its focus on luxury. Production of the Vanquish is planned to be limited to fewer than 1,000 units annually, including the Volante convertible versions.
Both the coupe and convertible versions share the same V-12 engine. The coupe can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds, while the heavier Volante does it in 3.4 seconds. The Volante’s roof can be lowered in 14 seconds and raised in 16 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph, which can be activated with the key fob. Aston Martin also states that the thermal insulation with the roof closed is comparable to that of the Vanquish coupe.
Inside, Aston Martin has maintained the design of the Vanquish coupe, focusing instead on emphasizing the powerful engine and elegant exterior. While the price for the new Vanquish Volante has not been officially released, it is expected to be around half a million dollars, considering the coupe version starts at $432,700. Deliveries of the new Vanquish Volante are expected to begin in the third quarter of this year.
