Rivian Opens Electric Van Sales to All Businesses
After ending its exclusivity agreement with Amazon in 2023, Rivian is now making its electric vans available to businesses of all sizes. The Illinois-based manufacturer, which was commissioned by Amazon to build 100,000 vans by 2030, has already delivered over 20,000 units to the e-commerce giant.

“We’re excited to now be able to open sales to fleets of all sizes in the US, whether they want 1 van or thousands,” said Tom Solomon, Rivian’s senior director of business development. The company has been testing its vans with larger fleets over the past year and is pleased with the results.
To purchase a Rivian van, businesses must have a valid license and register the vehicle under their name. The vans are not available for individual consumers. Rivian offers two models: the RCV 500 priced at $79,900 and the larger RCV 700 at $83,900. The naming convention reflects the storage capacity of each model, with 487 cubic feet for the RCV 500 and 652 cubic feet for the RCV 700.
Both models have a payload capacity of over 2,500 pounds, with the RCV 500 having a slightly higher capacity due to its lighter body. The smaller van also offers a slightly better range at 161 miles compared to the 153 miles of the RCV 700. Both vehicles support J1772 and CCS1 charging with DC fast charging speeds up to 100 kW.
While Rivian’s electric vans are priced higher than competitors like Mercedes-Benz’s eSprinter ($61,180) and Ford’s e-Transit ($45,700), they offer a unique design and electric capabilities that may appeal to businesses looking for sustainable delivery solutions.
