Lexus has been making significant moves in the surfing world, particularly at Pipeline. The luxury car manufacturer signed world title contender and Olympic athlete Griffin Colapinto as its first-ever surfing ambassador in September 2024. In 2025, Lexus expanded its presence in the surfing community by sponsoring several high-profile events, including the WSL Awards, the Pipe Pro, the Trestles Pro, the US Open of Surfing, and the WSL Finals.
As part of its renewed partnership announcement, Lexus revealed the Surf LX, a one-of-one concept luxury SUV designed specifically for surfers. The vehicle was developed with input from surfers, including Colapinto. The Surf LX balances utility and style, featuring a matte blue finish that is both subtle and classy. The custom rack and ladder provide easy roof access, while the interior is equipped with various features such as a board rack, built-in Dometic cooler, slide-out cargo storage, turf changing mat, and a table for waxing up.
The vehicle also includes ventilated compartments to prevent wetsuits, towels, and other gear from causing unpleasant odors. The genuine leather upholstery is designed to withstand the inevitable exposure to salt and sand. According to Griffin Colapinto, “Surfing is all about being in tune with your environment and enjoying the ride—much like what Lexus has achieved with the Surf LX. This vehicle isn’t just an SUV; it’s made for adventure, with the power and versatility any surfer could ever want or need.”
