A 33-year-old Japanese music producer, Honkon, has been left devastated after his brand new Ferrari 458 Spider caught fire and burned to ashes within an hour of delivery. Honkon had spent 10 years saving up to purchase the luxury car, valued at approximately ₹2.6 crore in India.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on Tokyo’s Shuto Expressway in the Minato area. Honkon was driving the car when he noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. He immediately stopped and got out, but the car couldn’t be saved. The Ferrari’s engine had caught fire shortly after delivery, and it burned down within 20 minutes.
Owner’s Reaction
“I think I’m the only person in Japan experiencing this kind of trouble,” Honkon said, expressing his disappointment. He also revealed that he was scared the car would explode. Fortunately, Honkon didn’t sustain any injuries, although he was left shaken.
Investigation
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident. There were no reports of a crash leading to the fire. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
