Electric Vehicle Charging Parking Permits Available January 9, 2025
To ensure access to electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on campus during the Spring semester, parking permits can be purchased starting January 9, 2025. Visitors can purchase their Spring parking permit through the [parking portal](link to portal).
EV Charging Station Locations and Details
Main Campus
The main campus features 2 EV 30 AMP, 6.6KV charging stations located in Lot 13, near the access road between the Library and the Charlton College of Business. To use these stations, a Chargepoint account is required. Sign up for Chargepoint [here](Chargepoint link).
SMAST East
SMAST East offers 3 Clipper Creek brand EV charging pedestals and 4 charging stations. These Clipper Creek EV charging stations provide 48 amp, 240 volt, 11.5 kW charging capabilities.
Guidelines for Using EV Charging Stations
- Vehicles parked in EV charging stations must be actively charging.
- There is a maximum usage limit of 4 hours during the day.
- Resident students are permitted to charge their vehicles overnight.
- Vehicles must be moved once charging is complete or when the 4-hour maximum time has been reached to avoid a parking violation.

Who Can Park in EV Charging Spaces?
Only plug-in vehicles that are using the charging station are allowed to park in the designated EV charging spaces.
Is There a Time Limit for Charging?
Yes, there is a 4-hour maximum per vehicle during the day. EV owners are responsible for relocating their vehicles once the allotted time is reached to allow other EV owners to access the charging station.
Can I Park in an EV Charging Space After My Vehicle is Fully Charged?
No, if your vehicle is done charging, it must be moved to allow other EV owners to use the charging station.
What Happens in Inclement Weather?
During inclement weather, EV drivers may be required to move their cars to accommodate snow removal operations.

While the campus charging stations are available, users should be aware that occasional maintenance may be required. Therefore, it’s advisable not to rely solely on these chargers. Alternative charging locations in the Town of Dartmouth include:
