MG Motor is set to introduce a long-range version of its popular electric vehicle, the MG Windsor EV, in India next month. The updated model is expected to feature a significantly larger 50.6 kWh battery pack, promising a range of 460 kilometers on a full charge – an improvement over the current 38 kWh battery that offers 331 kilometers.
Key Upgrades in the Long-Range MG Windsor EV
The long-range variant will retain the same dimensions as the existing model but is likely to come with new design alloy wheels. The primary upgrade will be the larger battery pack, which will be similar to the one used in the MG ZS EV. While the existing model produces 131.3 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, it’s unclear if the long-range version will retain the same PMS motor or be upgraded.
Performance and Charging Capabilities
The long-range MG Windsor EV is expected to maintain the same performance figures as the current model, with a top speed of 175 kmph. The charging capabilities are also likely to remain similar, with a 20-100% charge taking seven hours and a DC fast charger able to top it up from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.
Pricing and Competition
The long-range version of the MG Windsor EV is anticipated to command a premium of ₹4 lakh over the existing model’s top trim. This positioning is likely to put it in direct competition with other electric SUVs in the Indian market, such as the Tata Curvv.ev and the Mahindra BE6.

As the Indian electric vehicle market continues to grow, MG Motor’s introduction of a long-range Windsor EV is expected to provide consumers with more options for electric mobility. The new variant is set to reach dealerships soon after its launch next month.
