Maharashtra Government Launches 2025 EV Policy with Subsidies and Toll Waivers
The Maharashtra government has approved a new electric vehicle (EV) policy aimed at significantly increasing the state’s electric vehicle penetration by 2030. The policy includes subsidies for passenger electric vehicles and toll waivers for certain electric vehicles.

Under the new policy, the state government will provide a subsidy to promote electric mobility. Electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, private four-wheelers, state transport corporation buses, private buses, and transport undertakings under civic bodies will receive a 10% concession on their original purchase cost. Electric goods-carrying three-wheelers and four-wheelers, as well as electric tractors, will be given a 15% concession.
Key Highlights of the 2025 Maharashtra EV Policy
- Subsidies for Electric Vehicles: Passenger EVs will be given subsidies to promote electric mobility.
- Toll Waivers: Four-wheeler electric vehicles and buses using the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Atal Setu, and Samruddhi Mahamarg will have their tolls waived. On state and national highways, these vehicles will receive a 50% toll concession.
- Registration Fee Waiver: The registration fee for electric vehicles will be waived.
- Enhanced Charging Infrastructure: The policy focuses on strengthening EV charging infrastructure, with charging facilities planned every 25 kilometers on national highways.
The state government has allocated a budget of ₹1,993 crore for this initiative, and the policy will remain valid until 2030. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the new EV policy aims to increase EV manufacturing and consumption in the state.
By promoting electric mobility, the Maharashtra government aims to create a more sustainable transportation ecosystem in the state.
