Slate’s Electric Truck Surpasses 100,000 Reservations
Electric vehicle start-up Slate has announced that it has received over 100,000 reservations for its new low-cost, small electric truck just weeks after its unveiling. This surge in interest comes as many Americans appear to be moving away from Elon Musk’s Tesla. Slate’s chief commercial officer, Jeremy Snyder, expressed his team’s excitement about the future, stating, “We are truly humbled by America’s response to Slate’s brand launch and the launch of our truck.”

It’s worth noting that these reservations are not binding purchase commitments but rather a $50 deposit to secure a spot in line for the truck. The actual conversion of these reservations into purchases remains a significant challenge. The Slate truck, priced as low as $20,000, is positioned as a practical and customizable alternative to more flashy electric vehicles like Tesla’s Cybertruck. With features such as manual crank windows and a universal device holder, the truck’s design emphasizes simplicity over high-tech gadgetry.
Deliveries for the Slate trucks are scheduled to begin in late 2026. As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, Slate’s approach may appeal to consumers looking for a no-frills, affordable option. The success of Slate’s truck will depend on its ability to convert reservations into actual sales and establish a strong presence in the competitive EV market.
