DHL has expanded its Electric Vehicle (EV) Centre of Excellence (CoE) network to Australia, providing a comprehensive suite of logistics solutions for the auto-mobility aftermarket and the broader electrification ecosystem. The centres of excellence consolidate existing expertise and capabilities in EV logistics, including compliant international transport and warehousing services.

The EV CoE provides a certified transportation service to facilitate the import of replacement electric vehicle batteries and parts. Backed by the wider DHL Group, including DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express, it offers multiple modes of transport to help customers optimize lead times and costs. Three DHL Supply Chain multi-customer warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane are now battery-ready and compliant with local regulations and DHL guidelines for storing dangerous goods.

“We’re pleased to expand our EV COE network to Australia and support the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem locally,” said Steve Thompset, CEO of DHL Supply Chain ANZ. “We announced in November last year that upgraded warehouses in Sydney and Melbourne would house batteries, and now we welcome the addition of Brisbane.”

Fathi Tlatli, President of DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation Global Auto-Mobility Sector, stated that the company aims to pioneer the development of the electric vehicle market in Australia. “With our global network, we’re enabling a one-stop shop for EV logistics, improving the efficiency of aftersales services for Electric Vehicle players and beyond in the country,” Tlatli added.

As part of DHL Group’s Strategy 2030, the company will continue to focus on the EV sub-sector through the New Energy Grow Initiative. “In response to the growing need for circularity in the Auto-Mobility industry, DHL Group has the vision to develop battery end-of-life solutions in collaboration with specialized players in Australia,” Tlatli said.

Recently, DHL Supply Chain bolstered its battery electric fleet with new trucks and vans, further supporting its commitment to the EV sector.
