2026 Toyota C-HR: A New Chapter for the Subcompact SUV

Toyota is reviving the C-HR nameplate in the United States with a significantly revamped electric vehicle (EV) for 2026. The new C-HR shares its platform with the refreshed Toyota bZ but features a distinct design and a powerful all-wheel-drive electric powertrain.

Key Features of the 2026 Toyota C-HR EV

The 2026 Toyota C-HR EV boasts:

    • A single 67-kWh battery pack
    • An estimated range of 290 miles on a full charge
    • A dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 338 horsepower
    • 0-60 mph acceleration in 5.0 seconds
    • An 11-kW onboard charger
    • Compatibility with Tesla’s Supercharger network via NACS charge port
    • Peak charging speed of 150 kW, allowing for 10-80% charge in about 30 minutes

    Design and Dimensions

The C-HR EV maintains the “hammerhead” front-end styling and sharply creased bodywork seen in its European counterpart. It features a coupe-like rear roofline and offers 25 cubic feet of cargo space under the hatch. The vehicle’s dimensions (177.7 inches long, 63.8 inches tall, and 108.3-inch wheelbase) are slightly smaller than the Toyota bZ, aligning more closely with competitors like the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV.

    Interior and Trim Levels

The interior of the C-HR EV closely resembles that of the bZ, featuring:

    • A digital gauge cluster mounted high on the dashboard
    • A 14.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system
    • Dual wireless charging pads on the center console

The C-HR is available in two trims: SE and XSE. Standard features across both trims include heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, parking sensors, and a power liftgate. The XSE trim adds:

    • 20-inch wheels (compared to 18-inch wheels on SE)
    • A 360-degree camera system
    • A power-adjustable passenger seat
    • Upgraded upholstery
    • Additional driver assistance features

    Pricing and Availability

While official pricing has not been released, estimates suggest the base SE trim could start around $35,000, with the XSE trim potentially beginning at approximately $38,000. Toyota plans to release the C-HR EV in 2026, with further details expected before its market launch.

The revival of the C-HR nameplate marks Toyota’s expansion into the growing EV market with a competitive subcompact SUV offering a blend of performance, range, and technology.
