A 17-year-old girl is facing DUI charges after crashing a pickup truck into a home in Parkland, Pierce County, late Monday night. The incident occurred near the intersection of 111th Street and Park Avenue South. According to witnesses, the teenager appeared highly intoxicated and attempted to restart the truck, seemingly trying to flee the scene. Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Carly Cappetto reported that the girl’s actions could have had deadly consequences. Fortunately, the homeowners were in the back of the house at the time of the collision, avoiding potential tragedy. ‘This young woman is very lucky no one died in this situation,’ Cappetto stated in a Facebook post. ‘If they had been in their living room, this could have been very different.’ The teenager was arrested and processed for DUI. Cappetto emphasized the importance of parental conversations with teens about the dangers of drinking and driving, particularly during times of year when alcohol-related juvenile collisions often result in serious injuries or fatalities.
