King Charles has added a $215,000 electric Lotus Eletre to his extensive collection of luxury vehicles. The addition aligns with the monarch’s well-known environmental concerns and commitment to sustainability. The Lotus Eletre, powered by a 900HP electric motor, boasts a range of up to 319 miles on a single charge, making it suitable for use at one of the King’s country estates.
The British royal family’s vehicle collection is renowned for its opulence, including custom-made Bentleys and a private jet that underwent a $12 million refurbishment in 2020. However, the acquisition of the electric Lotus marks a shift towards more environmentally friendly options. King Charles has been vocal about environmental issues since his early twenties, particularly concerning plastic pollution and climate change.
The Lotus Eletre joins a collection that includes notable vehicles such as a 1987 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante and an Aston Martin DB6 MkII Volante. The latter, gifted by Queen Elizabeth II on his 21st birthday, was later modified to run on bioethanol. While Buckingham Palace typically remains silent on the King’s automobile collection, various reports have surfaced about his luxury vehicles over the years.
