Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its Vision V concept van, a revolutionary vehicle that transforms into a mobile theater on wheels. This innovative van is set to mark the beginning of the company’s 2026 era and previews their new modular Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA).
Interior Features
The Vision V boasts a luxurious lounge-like interior, complete with a private seating area behind the driver’s cockpit. The pièce de résistance is a retractable 65-inch cinema screen that rises from the floor when the doors close, offering split-screen functionality and 4K resolution. This screen effectively separates the lounge area from the front cockpit, creating a mobile movie theater experience. Passengers can enjoy video games and entertainment through this high-resolution display, complemented by a Dolby Atmos surround-sound system featuring 42 loudspeakers and haptic audio feedback through seat-integrated exciters.
The interior design is characterized by the use of premium materials such as crystal white Nappa leather, white silk, and open-pore burr wood. A switchable glass partition between the lounge and driver’s area can change from transparent to opaque using liquid-crystal technology. The cabin is further enhanced by seven projectors that extend the visual display to the side windows, creating a 360-degree viewing experience.
Innovative Design Elements
The Vision V features a large, automatically opening portal door on the right-hand side, accompanied by an illuminated retractable running board for easy access to the rear lounge. The center console between the two rear seats serves as both a display cabinet and control station, equipped with a touchpad for the infotainment system and a fold-out table that converts into a chessboard.
Exterior Design
Externally, the Mercedes-Benz Vision V presents a streamlined silhouette with short front overhangs and a narrow waistline. The roofline extends into the rounded rear, creating a continuous surface. The exterior is accentuated by chrome trim elements, transparent illuminated louvers, and sophisticated LED lighting. A notable feature is the chrome radiator grille with three horizontal illuminated glass louvers, surrounded by 200 technical-style light elements. An additional 190 illuminated louvers are positioned below the bonnet, extending to the side headlights that display the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star.
Future Plans
While the Mercedes-Benz Vision V is not yet in production, it signifies the direction of Mercedes-Benz’s future van lineup and their commitment to innovative design and technology. The vehicle showcases the potential of the Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) and offers a glimpse into the future of luxury transportation.
