A young couple in central China’s Henan province made headlines on mainland social media by ditching the traditional luxury bridal car fleet for a vintage bicycle ride on their wedding day. The nuptials, held on May 13 in Luohe, Henan, saw the groom using a classic, oversized bicycle to pick up his bride from her parents’ home.
The decision to use bicycles was inspired by the bride’s love for cycling and her admiration for the simplicity of her parents’ generation. “I love riding, so I wanted to add this element to my wedding to make it different from others,” Xing, the bride, explained. The 20-minute bicycle ride was met with community blessings as they made their way to the groom’s parents’ house.
