The 2026 BMW M2 CS has received notable performance enhancements. ## Key Performance Updates The M2 CS’s engine utilizes the same tune as the M4, given that both models share variations of the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine. BMW attributes the power boost over the standard M2 to “engine management” adjustments. These modifications yield 523 horsepower and 479 pounds-feet of torque, directed solely to the rear wheels. This represents improvements of 50 hp and 36 pounds-feet compared to the regular M2 when equipped with the optional automatic transmission. Notably, torque is limited to 406 pounds-feet with the manual transmission. Every 2026 M2 CS will come with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
BMW reports that the CS will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds — 0.2 seconds quicker than the standard M2 — and achieve a top speed of 188 mph when equipped with the M Driver’s Package. This is 11 mph faster than the regular M2.
Enhancing Performance and Control
The M2 CS formula combines power with reduced mass. The CS is 97 pounds lighter than the regular M2, achieved through extensive use of carbon fiber for components such as the roof, trunk lid, exclusive rear diffuser, and interior trim. Additionally, the CS features stiffer engine mounts, a lowered stance by 0.2 inch, and unique tuning for the springs, adaptive dampers, steering, and differential to enhance responsiveness.
Many of the CS’s features are available as options on the regular M2. These include heated carbon-fiber bucket seats designed to accommodate multipoint harnesses and removable head restraints for helmet clearance. Other options are the upgraded brakes with red calipers (with carbon ceramics available as an $8,500 option) and a heated synthetic suede steering wheel.
The M2 CS boasts exclusive matte-bronze wheels, measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. BMW will also offer two tiers of higher-performance track tires at no additional cost, further enhancing the vehicle’s track capabilities.
