BYD Enters the Affordable Electric Urban Car Market with Surf
Chinese automaker BYD is making a significant push into the European electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its new Surf model, strategically priced below 20,000 euros. The Surf is BYD’s eighth electric car sold in Europe over the past three years and is positioned as the brand’s flagship model for the European commercial offensive.
The Surf directly competes with the Dacia Spring, currently the cheapest electric car on the market. However, BYD’s new model boasts superior performance and equipment compared to its competitor. The base model, called Active, is priced at 19,990 euros, but with various incentives, promotions, and institutional aid, the price can be reduced to as low as 11,780 euros.
