Kia EV2 Prototype Revealed in New Spy Shots
Kia shocked the automotive world in February by unveiling three futuristic EV concepts, including the Concept EV2. Although the EV2 is slated to arrive in 2026, it won’t be making its way to US roads. Recent spy shots have caught the EV2 prototype testing on public roads, providing a glimpse into the production model’s design.
Notable changes from the concept to the production model include the abandonment of suicide doors in favor of conventional doors, likely due to safety and structural integrity concerns. The unique blocky wheel design of the concept is also likely to be replaced, although there’s hope that Kia might retain this feature.
The rear of the EV2 prototype shows low-mounted taillights, consistent with the concept design. While much of the rear end remains concealed, it’s expected that Kia will maintain the clean look of the concept to differentiate the EV2.
The interior is largely obscured, but a two-tone tiller is visible through the front window. The absence of the concept’s innovative message display on the windows is noticeable, but it’s not confirmed whether this feature has been dropped.
The Kia EV2’s design blends the practicality of the EV6 with inspiration from the larger EV9, resulting in a unique compact SUV. With production scheduled for 2026 and a expected price point around $30,000, the EV2 is poised to be Kia’s most affordable EV. Unfortunately, its European-focused design and size mean it likely won’t be available in the US market.
