Skoda Revives Favorit Name for Electric Car Concept
Skoda has unveiled a modern interpretation of its classic Favorit model as part of a series of ‘reimagined’ classic vehicles. The original Favorit, introduced in the late 1980s, was known for its no-nonsense approach to design and technology, helping Skoda expand its global presence.
The new concept, designed by Skoda designer Ljudmil Slavov, incorporates the brand’s ‘Modern Solid’ design theme, which has been featured in recent models such as the Kodiaq and Elroq. The concept car is powered by an electric powertrain, marking a significant departure from the original model’s technology.
Slavov explained, “I didn’t want to rely on current design elements like the Tech-Deck Face. This is a tribute to the Favorit, so I carefully studied the original details, aiming to evolve and elevate them. Simplifying an already minimalistic shape into the Modern Solid style was genuinely challenging.”
The modern Favorit concept retains a nod to its predecessor through its slim LED lights at the front and rear, which are set behind semi-transparent covers similar in size and volume to those on the original model. These design elements seamlessly integrate into the car’s body panels, maintaining the minimalist aesthetic.
While there are currently no plans to put the modern Favorit into production, Skoda has hinted that further ‘re-imaginings’ of classic models are ‘on the horizon,’ suggesting that more concept vehicles based on the brand’s heritage may be forthcoming.
