2025 Mercedes EQE 500 Provides Luxurious Alternative to Tesla EVs
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has long been the go-to luxury car for those who are mildly wealthy but not yet filthy rich. Your dentist or grandmother may have driven one. It’s in that spirit that Mercedes takes us into the EV age with the 2025 EQE 500.

Inside, Mercedes takes a lush approach to luxury, unlike some minimalist EV competitors. The Hyperscreen spans pillar to pillar with flatscreen gauges, a large infotainment screen center, and a co-pilot pad allowing passengers to adjust audio, navigation, and media. The interior is also equipped with heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, black linden wood veneers, a panorama glass roof, and Burmester 3D audio.

The EQE 500 is a joy to drive, with 402 horsepower and 633 lb-ft of torque streaming to the all-wheel-drive system. Mercedes claims a 266-mile range, but the test vehicle routinely achieved over 300 miles. Recharging takes 32 minutes to reach 80% on a DC fast charger and about 10.5 hours for a full charge on a 240v home charger.

Starting at $74,900 and reaching $95,600 as tested, the EQE 500 is positioned as a luxurious alternative to other EVs like the Tesla Model S. Other competitors include the BMW i5 and Genesis Electrified G80.
