A man was killed on Friday, June 13, after attempting to climb into the cab of a semi-truck on I-70 in Kansas City, Missouri. According to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. when the man, driving a black GMC Sierra pickup truck, exited his vehicle and tried to enter the cab of a white Freightliner semi-truck pulling a flatbed trailer.
The semi-truck driver, unaware of the man’s intentions, continued driving slowly on the interstate, attempting to get away from the pickup truck. The man ran alongside the truck, jumped onto the trailer, and attempted to grab a strap but lost his grip and fell off. Tragically, he was run over by the trailer’s rear axle before the truck driver could stop.
The man died at the scene, and no other injuries were reported. The incident caused significant traffic delays on I-70, with the eastbound lanes being closed past I-435 due to the crash.
