WAPELLO COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A serious accident involving an ATV and a pickup truck occurred on Sunday, June 15, leaving two young boys injured. The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the accident in the 16000 block of 15th Street. According to reports, a 55-year-old Ottumwa man was driving his pickup truck eastbound on 15th Street when two children on an ATV entered the roadway from a farm driveway, directly into the path of the oncoming truck. Both children, aged 7 and 12, were thrown from the ATV upon impact. When authorities arrived, they found emergency medical personnel already attending to the injured boys. The children were subsequently airlifted by Mercy One Air Med to receive further treatment. The severity of their injuries remains unknown at this time. The incident is under the jurisdiction of the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office.
