Critical Condition After Electric Scooter Collision
Two young best friends, Isabella ‘Bella’ Jones (11) and Abigail Gillon (12), remain in critical condition at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter in Aston Township on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:18 p.m. on Saturday when police, firefighters, and EMS responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving an electric scooter at the intersection of Lehr Boulevard and Concord Road. Upon arrival, authorities found the two girls had sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.

According to family members, the girls were riding together on the electric scooter when they hit a curb and were subsequently struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
The Delaware County community has rallied around the families, setting up GoFundMe pages to help cover medical expenses as the girls face long recovery roads ahead. Bella’s brother, Sean Jones, expressed his concerns about electric scooters, stating, “Those scooters, they need to go… they’re not worth it.” The incident is under active investigation by the Aston Township Police Department and the Delaware County Accident Reconstruction Team.
The girls’ condition remains critical as they fight for their lives. As Sean Jones poignantly described, “One of them can’t live without the other; we need both of them. They are like hand-in-hand best friends.”
