PEUGEOT UK’s recent research has revealed significant generational differences in what drivers value most in a car. The survey, conducted across five generations, found that technology-driven features such as in-car connectivity, autonomous capabilities, and eco-friendly design are now top priorities for Gen-Z and Millennials.

The survey of 2,000 respondents highlighted a clear trend: younger generations prioritize technology and sustainability. For instance, 38% of Gen-Z and 42% of Millennials valued connectivity features, compared to just 10% of Boomers and 3% of the Silent Generation. Interestingly, 18% of the Silent Generation preferred using voice commands to control in-car features, second only to Gen-Z.

Gen-Z places greater emphasis on technology, with 31% citing it as a top consideration when buying a new vehicle, compared to 10% of Boomers. Design was also crucial for 27% of Gen-Z, versus 12% of Boomers. Moreover, 25% of Gen-Z valued environmental impact and sustainability credentials more than any other generation.

While technology was important across all generations, navigation systems were the one feature that people of all ages couldn’t live without. PEUGEOT’s i-Connect Advanced infotainment system, which includes TomTom connected navigation, provides an EV Routing function to plan efficient journeys and maximize range.

The research also found that 62% of Gen-Z believe cars should have fully autonomous driving capabilities, compared to 24% of Boomers. The new PEUGEOT E-3008 and E-5008 models offer Level 2 driver assist features, including Active Cruise Control and Lane Positioning Assist.

Sustainability was valued highly across generations, with 74% of the Silent Generation and 75% of Gen-Z considering it important in their car-buying decisions. PEUGEOT is leading the charge in electrification, offering the most extensive electric vehicle line-up of any mainstream European brand.

Nicola Dobson, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, stated, “With technology becoming increasingly important to younger drivers, PEUGEOT is proud to be a tech-forward brand. We’re committed to developing vehicles that meet modern drivers’ expectations and reinforce our position as leaders in both technology and electrification.”

The PEUGEOT E-3008 and E-5008 exemplify the brand’s innovative spirit, featuring the Panoramic i-Cockpit and i-Connect Advanced infotainment system. These models cater to tech-oriented motorists and demonstrate PEUGEOT’s commitment to electric mobility and technological advancement.
