A fatal crash occurred in Daytona Beach on Thursday morning when a pickup truck collided with two power poles near the intersection of South Street and Russell Drive. The incident happened at approximately 11 a.m., just east of South Nova Road, close to the Museum of Arts and Sciences.
According to the Daytona Beach Police Department, officers responding to the scene found the pickup truck “engulfed in flames.” The Daytona Beach Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
The crash raised safety concerns due to the involvement of two power poles. Florida Power & Light officials were called to the scene to “safely secure the damaged utility infrastructure,” as reported by the police department.
The investigation revealed that only one vehicle was involved in the crash, and there were no passengers. The Daytona Beach Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
