A man has been found guilty of murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old man in Sydney’s inner west. Yusuf Nazlioglu was shot at least eight times in the underground car park of his apartment complex in Rhodes on June 27, 2022. Mohammed Hosni Khaled, 27, was convicted on Monday after a lengthy trial at the NSW Supreme Court. The jury is still deliberating on the cases of two other accused men, Abdulrahman Atteya, 31, and Mohammed Baltagi, 26.
The prosecution alleged that Khaled and Baltagi were involved in planning Nazlioglu’s murder, although Khaled was not present at the time of the shooting. The gunman is believed to be either Atteya or Rabieh Baltagi, who fled Australia in July 2022. The motive behind the killing may be linked to the theft of two luxury vehicles from a rental business in western Sydney, where the accused had connections.
During the trial, Nazlioglu’s widow, Jade Jeske, testified about witnessing the shooting. She described how she ducked under the dashboard as her husband was shot and filmed the incident on her phone. “He was lying on his back,” she said. “Gauging by the amount of shots that I heard … I knew that he was going to be dead.”
