Traffic Accident in Allegan County, Michigan
A serious incident occurred overnight on June 22 in Laketown Township, Allegan County, when a pickup truck struck a pedestrian who was attempting to jumpstart a disabled vehicle on the side of Blue Star Highway.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the crash at 1:53 a.m. on Sunday, June 22. The victim was working between the disabled vehicle and their own car when a southbound pickup truck lost control and struck both vehicles and the pedestrian.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. According to authorities, alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety, particularly as Blue Star Highway is currently undergoing reconstruction between 62nd Street and the 41MM overpass on I-196. The Douglas Police Department, Graafschap Fire Department, and the Michigan Department of Transportation assisted sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
