Ford has issued a recall for 154 of its 2025 model year Explorer SUVs, F-150 pickups, and Transit vans due to a potential engine issue. The affected vehicles are equipped with either 3.3-liter or 3.5-liter V6 engines, which may have a mis-machined connecting rod, according to Ford’s report to federal safety regulators. This defect could cause the connecting rod to become misaligned, leading to reduced engine power while driving, followed by an engine stall. Such an event increases the risk of a crash, Ford warns. After stalling, the engine may not be able to crank or restart. Ford is currently developing a remedy for the issue, which may involve replacing major engine components. The repair will be provided free of charge, as is standard with all recall repairs. Vehicle owners can check if their car is affected using a VIN tool available at recall centers. Millions of vehicles go unrepaired each year because owners are unaware of recalls, making such tools crucial for maintaining vehicle safety.
