MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The Louisiana State Police responded to a serious crash on Highway 165 during the early morning hours of Thursday, June 26. A Chevy Tahoe traveling southbound on Highway 165 veered left into the median for reasons that are still under investigation, crossing into the northbound lane where it collided with a cement truck.
The impact caused the cement truck to overturn, spilling its load onto the road. The driver of the cement truck sustained moderate injuries and received treatment. In contrast, the driver of the Tahoe suffered critical injuries and was airlifted for medical care. Notably, officials confirmed that the Tahoe’s driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The incident triggered a secondary collision in the southbound lane when two vehicles crashed into each other, fortunately resulting in no reported injuries. The Louisiana State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the initial crash.
This incident highlights the importance of road safety and the potential consequences of straying from one’s lane. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads.
