SEPTA suspended service at its Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Regional Rail station on Tuesday morning following a collision between a pickup truck and a freight train. According to Lansdale Police Chief Michael Trail, the pickup truck collided with a Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad train at the intersection of Broad Street and the tracks near the Lansdale Regional Rail station.

Two occupants of the pickup truck were extracted and taken to hospitals; their conditions remain unknown. Chief Trail reported that the freight train consisted of box cars and tanker cars, but the contents of the tanker cars were not immediately clear. Fortunately, there were no reported leaks at the scene.

The road at the intersection of Vine Street and Broad Street has been closed, prompting authorities to advise drivers to seek alternative routes and be aware of detours within the borough. A SEPTA spokesperson confirmed that the freight train was utilizing SEPTA tracks, leading to the suspension of service on the Lansdale-Doylestown line until the tracks are cleared.

According to SEPTA’s website, outbound trains on the line will operate normally from Glenside Station, but inbound service remains suspended. No estimate has been provided for when the scene will be cleared.
