Renault Master Crowned Large Van of the Year 2025
The Renault Master has taken the top spot in the Auto Express Large Van of the Year 2025 category, with the Ford Transit and Stellantis large vans receiving commendations.

The Renault Master has undergone a complete redesign, starting with a bold new front end featuring lighting inspired by Renault’s latest passenger cars. The upright nose not only creates an imposing look but also improves aerodynamic efficiency and maximizes cargo space. The panel-van options include various configurations with cargo volumes ranging from 10.8 to 14.8 cubic meters.
The Master offers a range of features that enhance its versatility, including wide-opening sliding doors and optional 270-degree-opening rear doors with access steps. The chassis cab, platform cab, Luton, dropside, and tipper conversions allow for customization to suit specific business needs. The improved aerodynamics and efficient dCi diesel engines deliver better fuel economy, while the 148bhp and 168bhp units provide ample torque.
The new driver-centric cabin includes numerous safety features and large digital displays, enhancing the driving experience. Connected services enable remote vehicle access via smartphone or telematics software using the built-in modem.
With its diesel and electric powertrains, varied lengths and heights, and extensive conversion options, the Renault Master is likely to meet the needs of most businesses. The large-capacity diesel engine offers significant torque, making it suitable for heavy loads.
The commended Ford Transit continues to be a strong contender in the large van segment, with its all-electric drive option and engaging driving dynamics. The revised Stellantis large vans, including the Citroen Relay, Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, and Vauxhall Movano, have also been commended for their improved appeal and versatility.
