MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A collision involving a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) jail transport van took place on Interstate 40 near the Danny Thomas Boulevard exit in Downtown Memphis on Wednesday morning. According to the SCSO, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. when the jail van, traveling east on I-40, was struck from behind by another vehicle. The SCSO shared footage showing the other car appearing to have flipped over during the crash. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those in the jail van or the other vehicle involved. As a precautionary measure, the individuals transported in the jail van were taken to Regional One Health for evaluation. The SCSO has not released additional details regarding the crash.
