A tragic accident occurred on Monday in Summerhill, New York, resulting in the death of a 51-year-old man. The incident happened at approximately 5 p.m. when the man was driving his Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck eastbound on State Route 90. According to Trooper Lynnea Crane, spokesperson for the State Police, the man lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the north side of the road and overturn. The man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not been immediately identified. A passenger in the vehicle, Lawanda Eaton, 47, from Cortland, was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Fortunately, Eaton suffered no apparent injuries in the crash and was reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the crash.
