Stellantis and Qualcomm Join Forces for Enhanced Vehicle Platforms
Stellantis N.V. and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. have announced a multi-year collaboration. This deal will employ the latest Snapdragon Digital Chassis advancements. The main goal is to deliver intelligent, customizable, and immersive in-vehicle experiences. These will be rolled out across Stellantis’ 14 iconic automotive brands, beginning in 2024.
By leveraging the Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms and 5G capabilities for telematics systems, Stellantis aims to meet evolving customer expectations. The collaboration will make use of High Performance Computers and the high-performance, low-power Snapdragon Automotive Platforms. This partnership secures the supply chain for strategic components, too.
Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO, stated that this technology collaboration with Qualcomm is a key strategy in transforming vehicles through a software-defined approach. He emphasized that this will lead to safer, personalized, and always-connected features.
Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated, expressed honor in expanding their work with Stellantis. He highlighted the aim to redefine vehicles with Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions. Qualcomm hopes to empower Stellantis, and the automotive ecosystem, to lead the transformation to the digital era of automobiles.
Stellantis will use next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms to enhance in-car communication and infotainment systems for STLA SmartCockpit. Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms are engineered to provide high-definition graphics and a fully immersive in-cabin experience. This includes premium audio and clear voice communication.
Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms will enhance STLA Brain, improving digital intelligence for safety and convenience. They will also improve in-vehicle personal assistant capabilities with AI features, including:
- Over-the-air (OTA) updates
- Personalized experiences
- Improved user experiences
- Continuous new services and solutions
- Always-connected experiences
- Improved ownership experiences
The first vehicle to feature this technology will be Maserati, with the next-generation Stellantis infotainment system.
