Ford Reports Robust Q2 Sales, Driven by Trucks, Vans, and Hybrids
Ford Motor Company announced impressive sales figures for the second quarter of 2024, showcasing gains across various vehicle segments including trucks, vans, hybrid, and electric vehicles, as well as Lincoln.
Ford attributes its success to a compelling product lineup that resonates with customers. The F-Series truck continues to be a top performer, with strong sales in pickups and vans. Hybrid and electric vehicles are particularly driving growth, along with enhanced post-purchase experiences, like BlueCruise, Ford Pro Intelligence software, and remote vehicle servicing options.

Ford’s total vehicle sales for Q2 increased 1% year-over-year. Total truck sales, combining pickups and vans, rose 5% compared to 2023, representing Ford’s best Q2 truck sales since 2019. New Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, Mustang Mach-E Rally, and extended-range E-Transit deliveries are slated to begin soon.

Hybrid Vehicle Sales Surge
Ford’s hybrid vehicle sales jumped 56% to 53,822, setting a new quarterly sales record. The Maverick, America’s best-selling hybrid pickup, led the charge with sales totaling 40,420 in the first half of the year. The F-150 Hybrid also performed well, with sales up 38% in the first half of the year.
Approximately 60% of Maverick Hybrid buyers are switching from other brands, often trading in their small SUVs and compact cars. Maverick’s largest market is California, and it’s the top choice among female consumers in the midsize pickup segment.

Electric Vehicle Sales on the Rise
Electric vehicle sales grew 61% in Q2, with 23,957 units sold, and are up 72% year-to-date. Ford is the No. 2 electric vehicle brand in America. The Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning are attracting customers from other brands, with 62% of F-150 Lightning sales and 54% of Mustang Mach-E sales being new Ford customers.
Mustang Mach-E sales increased 46% year-over-year and are up 58% for the first half of the year, marking the model’s best performance since its launch. The F-150 Lightning, America’s best-selling electric truck, sold 15,645 units through June. The Ford E-Transit continues to lead the electric van market, more than doubling its sales during the first half of 2024.
Commercial Vans and Ford Pro Intelligence
Ford has led the commercial van segment for 45 consecutive years. In Q2, Ford Transit and E-Series combined accounted for half of the full-size commercial van segment. Transit had a record start this year, with sales of 82,164 vans in the first half of the year, a 28% increase. The Ford Pro Intelligence software platform now has almost 600,000 subscribers, a 33% increase since last year.
SUV Sales and Lincoln’s Growth
Ford-brand SUVs also achieved a record first half. Lincoln’s sales accelerated in Q2, driven by the all-new Lincoln Nautilus. Overall, Lincoln sales were up 19%, with Nautilus leading the way. The new Lincoln Digital Experience in the Nautilus is popular, and it has received significant recognition.

Remote Services
Ford and Lincoln dealers are providing convenient services. Remote Service appointments and Pickup & Delivery services reached 1.8 million in the first six months of 2024, a 175% increase compared to the same period last year.
